Won't turn on after being opened

So I've opened my laptop, at first to try and fix the lid detector and camera. I ended up not doing it after noticing this repair is too risky for me so I closed it back. Since then, no response. Not even the LED will turn on. (before you ask, I know my way around electronics, I have a paper and experience, I'm not blind)

What I did when first going in :

- Checked flat cable connections. One had a loose lock so I locked it.

- Found a loose motherboard screw sitting there (not shorting anything, probably left by previous owner). Checked where it went and put it back (I did try turning it on with and without it. Nothing)

I tried charging it but it doesn't pull any power.

What can I do to troubleshoot it? I couldn't find any pcb layouts online so it's hard to even start figuring out where the issue comes from.

Any help appreciated

Hi @saegle

Just verifying that you disconnected the battery cable from the motherboard as soon as you could access it after opening the laptop and before commencing any further work inside the laptop? Maybe an obvious thing to do but it is surprising how many people don't do it and then run into problems afterwards.

If the laptop doesn't indicate that the battery is charging when the charger is connected to it, perhaps fuse F2 might be worth looking at. See p.56 of the motherboard schematic¹

¹ This is the schematic for a Wistron LMQ-1 12298-2 series motherboard which looking online seems to show is used in a Carbon X1 Gen 2 laptop. This number should be on the motherboard somewhere if you wish to verify which model motherboard is in the laptop. If it is this version, and you need to find the physical location of the various components on the board, as shown in the schematic, I couldn't find a free download for a boardview file of the motherboard. You may have better luck
