Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop.
Go to p.42 (48 of 254 pdf) to view the procedure to check if the output voltage from the AC adapter is within the specified voltage range as shown.
If it isn't then it may be that the adapter (or adapter cord) is faulty therefore the laptop is not being powered and the battery can't be charged either.
If the adapter is OK it may be a faulty DC-in cable in the laptop.
Unfortunately it is not shown in the manual but it is listed in the parts list shown in the manual.
Use the manual to open the laptop and then locate the DC-In cable connection where it connects to the motherboard. The other end is where you plug the AC adapter into. Check if there's the correct voltage appearing when measuring between the red and black wires of the cable.
If the cable is faulty search online for the appropriate to your particular model version laptop i.e. 15" LCD or 14" LCD model parts number (see DC in cable part # on p.237 and p.238 to hopefully find suppliers of the part.
If the cable is OK further testing would be required to find out what's wrong.
