The speaker contacts are broken and I can't find a replacement.

Hi all! My GBM sound started to fail from time to time but finally it stopped working. I have disassembled the GBM and find out that one of the speaker contacts was missing. After searching a while, I've found the broken part, however I wasn't able to fix it. I have been searching for speaker replacement but I don't know the name or reference of the speaker. I measured that the speakes is about 13mm of diameter and about 3mm in depth. Do you know a PN for that speaker? Thank you!

After doing a quick Google & eBay search, here's the part number (and link) to the whole speaker:

Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/276476771402 (Albeit it does appear legitimate, I do advise doing your research on buying things online, even if sent over iFixit. I've done my due diligence and to the best of my knowledge, this is a legitimate seller.)

PN: 4588999

Hi @skull39!

Thank you for your response. It looks like this speaker could fit into the GBA Micro’s speaker slot. However, the original Game Boy Advance Micro speaker isn’t equipped with wires; instead, it has small tabs that make direct contact with the board, quite similar to the Game Boy Advance SP speaker (for which replacements are easily found on eBay or AliExpress, by the way). Unfortunately, the GBA SP speaker is much larger... it is about 7 mm wider in diameter.

Here Game Boy Micro Motherboard Replacement you can see the speaker, just below A-B buttons.

In any case, if I can’t find the exact GBA Micro speaker with the spring contacts, I’ll try making it work by purchasing this one and soldering the terminals directly to the board, though I’m a bit concerned since the space inside the Game Boy Advance Micro is very tight and everything is packed in closely.

Thanks again for your response. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes!

Best regards.
