Which won't my tv stay off
My tv keeps turning back on by itself and will not stay off

What is the model number of the TV?
Have you checked if there are any "timer" settings activated in the TV menus (that is if it has any such setting)?

Does it turn on immediately after you have switched it off or some time later?
If later, does it always turn on at the same time?
Try blocking the IR window on the right hand side of the bezel below the screen and check if it turns on by itself again.
Also temporarily remove the batteries from the remote control unit and check if it turns on
Try a power reset and check. Disconnect the power to the TV and then press and hold the TV power on button for 30 seconds and then release it. I'm not sure if you then have to set it up again or not e.g. rescan for channels etc

Good afternoon, yes I tried all of the above, and unfortunately the issue continues.
Once I turn the TV off, it takes about 4 seconds to come back on. The DirectTV genie box will stay off so the TV screen remains dark until the directtv is also started.
In the meantime we've put a power button on the power cable for easy turn off completely at nights. Thanks for your time and guidance.

What happens if you disconnect the Genie box from the TV, does the TV behave normally?
