MacBook Pro logic board fuse?

Hi there, just wanting some information that I cannot already see on other forums that relates to my Logic Board.

I have a Macbook Pro 13" Unibody late 2010 with a A1278 Logic Board. A very small amount of water was spilt on this machine along the top row of keys. The computer kept running for about an hour then shut down and will only start up with front light on, black screen and fan runs at high speed. This is similar to other users with water spills and it has been said that the fuse is blown. Every other detail relating to moisture has been dealt with, just the location of the fuse I need help with. My logic board seems to be a little different in design to the ones shown so please help if you can please. Here are some more details below. Thanks in advance.

Please either post or email me clear, closeup, well lighted pictures of your logic board near to and around where the LVDS/video cable plugs into the board. I may need pictures of both sides of the board in that area. I will need to be able to read the markings on the chips. I don't have one of your boards. I am familiar with the backlight circuitry used by Apple on them. My email is in my profile if you have problems posting the picture(s).

The logic board is pretty well protected by a black piece of plastic under the keyboard. For just a very small amount of water you have probably only damaged the upper case. Unfortunately it shorts the keyboard out and has to be replaced. It's Apple part # 661-5871. I would tear it down to make sure no liquid migrates to the logic board and get that topcase off it. Examine the logic board and the white stickers LSI (liquid submersion indicators) http://tidbits.com/article/10080

See if any have turned red. If none have you're in good shape. This is a difficult repair and takes some time. Use special care when removing the logic board connections or you will pop the receptacles off the logic board.

Thanks for the reply. I have stripped the keyboard down and there is no remnants of water left behind in the keyboard but that does not mean there wasn't water in there. Would the keyboard shorting out have blown any fuses etc? I am also have the skills to replace just the keyboard if this part is available on its own? Also no sign of water on the water detection stickers. Lastly the part number you listed. Is this for the whole case? and would part number #661-5869 be the same as this was quoted from another person also.

Thanks again, waiting your reply.

Can I jump start the computer without the keyboard plugged in to confirm the problem?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

The part number you gave is for a logic board: http://www.welovemacs.com/6615869.html

There's a possiblity that just the keyboard can be replaced but I haven't done it. See this question: Can the keyboard be replaced?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

+ @Mayer. @Malcom yes you can jump start it. The keyboard and track pad must be disconnected to do it. Open the bottom case then you will see the keyboard jack and trackpad jack on the logic board near the trackpad there are 2 power pads by which can be shorted to power it on.

I have the same issue and I have already replaced the upper case exactly following the steps on MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Early 2011 Upper Case Replacement .

But the issue remains. The LSI dots are all white. I think the logic board is in good shape. Since I have already replaced the upper case with keyboard, I don't know what is the problem now. When I press the power button. The front white light was turned on, but the screen keeps off and the fan spins faster and faster. The fan noise will not stop, until I manually power the machine off.

Can I examine the logic board myself? How to reset the logic board?

BTW, I found @Mayer's comment about jump start. Could you please provide a picture of the power pads to be shorted please? Thanks a lot!
