A modern, mini, edition of the Nintendo Entertainment System, launched on November 2016. Also known as the Nintendo Classic Mini NES in some markets.

nes classic won't power on

i bought a faulty nes classic that i discovered won't power on. i checked for voltage with my multimeter and am getting 5 volts at the port and on every component i should be but still no power. what am i missing? it's a european model if that makes a difference

5v seems very low for a console

5 volts is all it needs since it's the mini and not the og nes

@techlord yea just checked the power adapter specs, maybe a power button issue

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

i checked the power button and reset button with my meter and they're functioning properly

@techlord any bridging pins in the hdmi port ?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

hdmi port looks fine with no pins touching, micro usb port looks fine with no pins touching

External Power supply is 9VAC for 1.5A. After the diode rectifier bridge the supply goes to 13VDC.

3 tensions are used from this 13VDC power --> 9VDC, 12VDC and 5VDC this last one thru a LM805 egulator.

As a troubleshooting method you can connect a lab power supply tuned on 13VDC directly on the VIN leg of LM805 the regulator + GND, or on the big capacitor following the diode bridge.

If the console is still dead, the problem is elsewhere.

i don't have it anymore but it wasn't the og nes, it was mini. never figured out what the fault was. when i had it and checked for voltage i was getting 5 volts everywhere i should have but still no power and the switch was ruled out since it did work
