Replace or repair the ice maker?

The ice maker stopped working. A new one is about $45 shipped over ebay. I notice it has a plastic ice tray rather than what seems to be the cast ice tray on OEM.

Should I find one with a metal tray? Should I try to repair mine which seems to be locked into place? Or should I make a hybrid of the two with a new motor and the old metal ice tray?

Thought and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

I guess it would depend on availability of parts and what needs to be replaced. I bet you can fix it for half the price....;-)

$48 bucks for the part. R&R. But I was thinking I could cobble it up with the old part and have a strong cheap new old part.

Turns out, the ice tray was metal after all. I have ice cubes!
