Can I still repair my Nintendo Switch? It won't turn on.

I was attempting to replace the fan to my switch lite using this guide : Nintendo Switch Lite Fan Replacement

While completing step 12 (in the reassembly process) where you slide the interconnect cable into its connector on the motherboard, a short occurred (I thought I smelled something burning, but reassembled anyway. The switch now wont turn on). Other people had this issue and posted comments on the step, but no one has responded to say how to solve it.

Additionally, the hinged locking flap would not come up and ultimately broke off. How necessary is this piece?

How would I repair my switch now?

I've had that issue before when I first started fixing Switches, and yes, it's very important and needs to be replaced. The part you're referring to is the connector for the daughterboard flex cable. It connects the daughterboard to the main board. You can replace the connector on the board. It does require soldering so if you're not proficient in that then I would recommend taking it to a shop to be repaired. You can buy them on MobileSentrix: https://www.mobilesentrix.com/keypad-ext...

@acord22 sometimes you can replace the "flap" by carefully snapping it into the connector, one side at a time. So, get more than one it you are trying to replace it ;-)

Hello! This same thing happened to me when I attempted to fix my Switch Lite. The lock fell off and made my console’s backlight and buttons not work. Here is a helpful video I found that made this fix super easy: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-OUTtm-B75...
