I've run across this same issue; replaced the lightning port assembly on an iPhone X to find that it fixed the reboot issue that was happening, but the port is very difficult to get a good connection for charging. It's nothing more worrisome than the fact that you probably got a bad part; I've already ordered and received a replacement from a different vendor that I plan on installing soon.
I generally don't have many issues with replacement parts, but it does happen occasionally. It sounds like you just had the misfortune to get one of those defective ones on your repair. I'd suggest just ordering another one from a different site or seller; the odds of getting two bad ones in a row are pretty low.
