Good night, I have an iMac 2009 core 2 duo 3.06 E7600
socket 775
TDP 65w
1066mhz
Note: This iMac also came with a 3.33 core 2 duo processor E8600 socket 775 TDP 65w 1333mhz.
I made some memory changes to 12giga SSD 250giga, the machine has improved a lot.
I recently purchased a Q8400s quad core 2 processor
socket 775
TDP 65w
1333mhz
It doesn't justify not working, but it doesn't even turn on the screen, I reset the vram, I disabled the EFI (operating system) and nothing.
Can someone help me.

which version of iMac 21.5" do you have? (3.06 or 3.33GHz?) Are you looking to upgrade to a faster CPU chip? or do you have a different reason to know?

wouldn't a quad already compound the cooling issues in this model of iMac? not issues as in wont work, just as in is really hard on the processor. four cores will run even hotter theoretically.

any success in this matter? i have a 21.5in iMac with the E7600 3.06GHZ processor and i'm thinking of later on upgrading the CPU to match those higher end systems (or upgrade to a 27in then upgrade after that)

Looking to do exactly this upgrade E7600 > Q9550S
Same socket LGA775, same TDP of 65W... Not same FSB... But same as E8600 which was an option at the date of release...
Any one knows, please ?
