Dryer door cable snapped and won't hold weight

There was too much weight put on the dryer's door. It seems as if a cable came lose and now the door is flimsy when opened. The door is not firm. Can anything be done?

Update (03/14/2023)

It looks like my reply did not 'fly'. let's try again. the model is an "80 Series" and hopefully the picture makes it this time.

Hi Kit,

We'll need the model number so we know what we're talking about, and pictures would help.

The Kenmore 80 series was made for decades by several different manufacturers. What we need is the model number that's found on a plate that should be visible when you open the dryer door. It should look something like this example: 110.67832794.
