My HP Notebook powers off abruptly & randomly while plugged in?

My laptop's has a sustaining power issue even when plugged in with AC power adapter! My Battery is DEAD! All cells are gone( Can't run HP's battery test cause it can't "see"/"find" the battery or AC power plug.

Side note: My laptop fans don't ever ramp up since this power off issue happens randomly at any moment! It has occurred during powering up, sitting on desktop, etc & at times when i went to Update windows 10. I can sometimes get hour or more... or less than 15 minutes at anytime....

The laptop is stationary & not being moved around at all

@tmcglover56721 could be an issue with the AC adapter or the power connector. Time to change the battery and to measure the AC adapter. Check the connector to see if it is still tight in the connector or if it developing some slack that may cause it to disconnect. Here is the service manual for your laptop. Also, there are /were issues with the power cords for the AC adapter for this model. Check on here for info on that.

@oldturkey03 Thanks for the link to my manual for my laptop! Really appreciate that.

In regards to the AC power plug recall my Plug has the marking of "LS-18M" which via HP's Replacement programs shows mine is "Not affected" by the recall!

@Oldturkey03 welp i guess I'm stuck with my laptop issue a bit longer... Can't open the chassis for cleaning & deeper insight due to 2 screws One Phillips 00 being tread stripped( Just spins forever either rotation) & a stubborn x1 Broadhead which head was cracked & i can't get no grip on the screw head. each on left & right side new hinge.

Both join through chassis & secure motherboard...

Thanks HP....

@tmcglover56721 time for a Dremel and small drill. Just slightly smaller than the screw head diameter. That way the screws will lose their head. After you open the case you can use a pair of pliers to remove the stubs :-))

No rush whatsoever. We‘ll be here
