Sony XBR 50 won't connect to Denon AVR

Using ARC connection to connect to Denon SH960. Had been working fine but for no reason stopped getting sound through Denon. In Sony settings I select Enable to connect to AVR but get a message on TV screen that device not found.

@moeb have you tried a different/new cable?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Yes, tried a different HDMI cable.

@moeb

Have you tried a non HDMI-ARC port in the TV if there is one?

What is the full model number of the TV?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Just tried HDMI 1, 2 and 3. None of them worked.

TV is XBR-55X930D

@moeb

Process of elimination.

Do the TV HDMI ports work OK with another device connected to them e.g. dvd player etc?

Does the Denon receiver work OK with another device connected to it via HDMI?

You need to prove first where the problem is, TV or Denon receiver and then move forward to find out what's wrong with the problem device because at the moment it is not known where it is.

The only thing that is known is that it isn't the cable

Connected another TV with an ARC HDMI port to the Denon and that did not work either. No help from Denon other that taking it to a survived center.

@moeb

Did you try both HDMI out ports on the Denon?

If no good, try connecting the receiver to the TV using Component video.

If it works at least it proves the problem is only with HDMI in the receiver so at least the receiver can still be used.

I can't find a service manual for it which makes it difficult to know what to look at in the receiver.

Using the HDMI cable, connect the HDMI IN (ARC or eARC) port on the TV and the HDMI OUT (ARC or eARC) port on the audio device.

Using the optical digital audio cable, connect the Optical Digital OUT port on the TV and the Optical Digital IN port on the audio device.

Turn on the TV.

Set Speakers to Audio system.

Will

Rule number one before you start or after changing ANYTHING - RESTART your TV so your TV OS restarts - Android and Tizen are buggy. This has solved the same issue I have had when your TV has stopped displaying the receivers menu. Good luck!
