@kar465 that flashing is usually caused by the carbon brushes on the motor. WE would have to see what that looks like. you can wither post a short video or even a couple of pictures of where you see those sparks. If it is the brushes, replacing those will most likely fix this. KitchenAid KSM150PSER Carbon Brushes Replacement
