A1708/EMC 3164 — Released June 2017, this entry-level MacBook Pro retains its traditional function keys (as opposed to the OLED Touch Bar).

Battery Doesn't Charge and Battery Icon Not Showing

After installing my iFixit macbook pro battery, I noticed that my laptop was not holding a charge nor did it display the battery icon with the percentage. I ended up figuring out my own issue. If you end up doing this repair and find that either or both are your problems as well here is the solution.

On the iFixit guide for steps #10-13, make sure to put that cable back in with the new battery. Now I am able to hold a charge, both the macbook and coconutbattery is able to read the cycle count (mine is now 1) and it can read how much charge is going in to the laptop. Hope this helps!
