the laptop just stopped responding was about 3h in the car...couldnt have gotten wet? because it was cold if not what should I do?

If it was working in the cold then the air could condense on the warm elements, causing internal short circuit. If it was turned off then you should wait few hours before turning it on (allow your vaio to reach room temperature).
But if it was really frosty outside, then the battery could just die.
