Lenovo Ideapad won't turn on after I replaced the SSD

I have an Ideapad that is about 7 years old. It worked great until I opened it for the first time to replace the SSD with a bigger one. I was very careful when opening it, and didn't mess up with anything else other than replacing the old SSD with a new one. After that, the laptop won't turn on anymore. I even put the old SDD back to see if it would work, but it simply doesn't turn on. I press the power button, and nothing happens. Any idea?

Unfortunately, I didn't disconnect the battery from the motherboard before replacing the SSD.

It doesn't show it's charging when I plug in the charger.

What is the model number of the laptop?

Did you disconnect the battery from the motherboard before changing anything inside the laptop?

Does the laptop indicate that the battery is charging when the charger is connected?

Same case happened to me with two of my staff at work with same lenovo ideapad. One is exactly as described above while the other one was never opened but just started by failing to charge and now both are not even charging leave alone booting.

"IF" the motherboard's model number is NM-A541 (printed on motherboard) check that the fuse marked PF1 is OK and hasn't blown.

If it is blown it is a 12A_24V_F1206HB12V024T/M i.e. 24V 12A smd fuse. I couldn't find any suppliers except the one I linked and you have to order it from them as there is none in stock. You may have better luck finding one elsewhere.

If the fuse is OK here's a link to the schematics that will help as you will have to track the problem at board level.

Unless there is an obviously damaged component on the board you would have to trace the power from the fuse to see what component it feeds to next and so on.

Maybe also check where the battery connects to the board in the schematic as even though it indicates no power from the charger it should start on the battery (unless it has discharged) so it may be something common to both.

@srgbrg this is strictly a supplement to the excellent answer provided by my esteemed colleague @jayeff. Your board indeed looks like a 15ISK NM-A541. There are two fuses. PF1 is for the AC adapter and PF2 is for the battery. You do want to check both for continuity, as well as for power, once you disconnect and reconnect your battery. Let us know what voltages you get on those and if they both have continuity.

Since you have the schematic follow through with page 3 and test the voltage rails. See where you do get power. Page 45 shows you the power switch and it appears to have power-on pads. Those usually can be jumped to bypass the power switch, if that would be a concern. General area only since I do not have a great image of it. Had to lift this one from an auction site
