Unlock swipe doesn't work -- need new digitizer?

I dropped my 1st-gen iPhone, and I can no longer swipe to unlock. If I hold down the power button and wait for the reboot message, I can swipe the slider for it, but I can't tap the "Cancel" button.

So, it looks like it's no longer reading from (at least) the bottom of the screen. Is it possible there's a loose connection that could be reconnected or do I need a new digitizer?

Thanks

It's quite possible that you just have a loose connection. Follow this guide and look for the connector in step 23, that is your touch sensor connector. Make sure it's fully seated and carefully reassemble. If this doesn't work you may unfortunately may need a new digitizer. Let us know what you find.

That didn't work, so I bought a new digitizer/screen. I was able to replace it (and the battery) last night, but now my cell, wifi, and bluetooth aren't working. Wi-fi was grayed out, and bluetooth said "Not available".

So, I tried resetting network settings. No good. I tried restoring my iPhone with iTunes on my PC, but I get error 23.

I remembered this morning that I was able to receive calls when the digitizer was broken. So, now I'm thinking that I messed it up when I was repairing it. I was having trouble getting the white antenna wire to connect. Is it possible that's the problem? Or is it more likely the hardware?

I'm trying to take it apart as few times as possible. :-)

I'm going to take it into work to try using iTunes on my Mac to see if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Phillip

Oy you have a lot of symptoms going. Checking your work is always a good place to start, especially if additional symptoms occur after you've taken it apart. Have you tried putting your old digitizer back in to see if it changes anything? When you installed the new digitizer, did you inspect all your connections to be sure was no damage such as bent or broken pins?

The other unfortunate possibility is a bad logic board, here is an answer for error 23. I encourage you to try the answers written there. Let us know what happens. Hopefully you can get your phone running again!
