Ensure that you have the latest HP printer drivers installed in the MacBook Pro which are appropriate to the OS.
Here's a link that may help.
Click on Choose a different OS and select Mac OS (if not already Mac OS) then click on Select Version and then select the OS version appropriate to the version installed in the MacBook Pro. Click on Change to view the software version for the latest drivers (V2.5 - 02/12/2015).
Check if the drivers installed in the MacBook are this version or not.
