New battery fitted .. charges and visible but won't operate on battery

Hi

Microsoft surface 2 Laptop battery replaced successfully. It is recognised and charges to 100% but as soon as I disconnect the power supply it shuts down. Have tried software fixes but I belive it is hardware.

Hi there

I replaced with the same make from Microsoft (https://www.laptop-battery.org.uk/laptop...) and with the right connector.

I checked both batteriers with a DC voltage meter and the original was 7.5v but the new one was 8.5v. Should that make a difference ?

Thanks

Craig Smyth always double check your work to make sure nothing got missed. Check the connector and check the pins. Make sure there is no damage.

Hi there

Thanks for the answer. I checked and double checked it. I was very careful and there was no damage and the pins were fine.

Hi craig,

The issue occurs mainly due to compatible battery. Did you replaced the original one with different make(compatible).

Yes power (Voltage & current) makes difference have faced similar issues in the past but not with surface book

@ds17 I have asked the supplier to send me a new battery and will try when it arrives. It is defintely the right part number and product ordered and is a microsoft battery so I was surprised the voltage is higher than specified even as written on the battery

Craig

The issue is with the power sensing unit if i'm right In most cases if the power output either above or below the sensing unit gives feedback as compatible. Have a word with supplier they might propose something new
