bottom of case warped

2018 MBPro A1989 - the bottom of the case is warped but my battery seems good. Holds a charge and MBP functions normally. I've seen articles about batteries swelling and needing replacement. How can i be sure what i need to fix this?

Do you have a Pentalobe P5 screwdriver?

I would use the MacBook until the battery is dead, and then open it up and replace the battery. It is very likely that the battery is swollen, and if it is, it shouldn't be used. Using the battery until it's dead discharges it so that it's safer to remove.

I have noticed that since removing AC power this morning about 2-3 hours ago, it does seem to be discharging much quicker than i remember (26% now). At home i always have the power adapter connected, lid closed and use external monitors.

Assuming its the battery, does this mean my case is forever warped too?

@nealsil Take a look at Dan's comment on the warranty exception. As for the case, you can use a hammer, piece of wood, and a microfiber cloth. Place the piece of wood under the warped area, then use the hammer to flatten down the warped area. If that doesn't work, you can get a MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Touch Bar, Late 2016-2019) Lower Case from iFixit.

Thanks very much for all the advice. I'll do some more investigation and report back what i end up needing to do.

Battery is in trouble! Technically your battery should last very close to 1,000 cycles yours is not even past 100!

You should visit an Apple Store for the battery to be replaced by them under a warranty exception!
