MacBook won’t turn on, charger with orange light

Hi,

I replaced my battery 4 months ago in my mid-2015 15” Retina display MacBook Pro. It worked flawlessly until this past week. Now, the computer will not turn on. No new damage or spills. The charger has an orange light, and when I hit the power button I see the battery with the charging symbol (indicating it is being charged. When unplugged, it shows that it needs to be plugged in). The charger never turns green, and the MacBook never actually turns on. I did the SMC reset and the charger briefly flashed green but didn’t resolve the issue. I opened the case and can see the fans turn on briefly when first plugged in. Disconnected the battery temporarily and it still wouldn’t boot (during or after reconnecting).

Any advice? Is this a faulty iFixIt battery?

Thanks!

Sorry this sounds more like the charging logic has issues. There is a set of MOSFET power transistors which switches the power between the charger to the logic board and/or the battery if it needs charging. Often knockoff chargers skills them!

At this point you could see if the system will respond with the battery disconnected fully. After disconnecting it with nothing plugged in press and hold the power button for a good 15secs to fully discharge the logic board, then plug in the MagSafe charger did the MagSafe LED start off Green then quickly turn Amber? Did the system startup?

Thanks! When I do this the MagSafe charger turns green briefly and then goes to orange. Still doesn’t turn on.

@rolvix - Did you get any response with the fans? Did you try the power button as well?

Time to find someone with micro soldering skills and can go deeper in the diagnostics replacing the damaged MOSFET's

Tried the power button with no effect. I believe the fan did still turn on briefly
