when I put the receiver close to my ear when receiving a call the other person’s voice seems far away, even after increasing the volume nothing changes. However when I put the call on speaker I can hear the other person well. Why is this please?

damage to the earpiece speaker will do this, I am guilty of doing this a few times during repair, but water/moisture can get in and damage the speaker. has anything compressed the dust shield? that would interfere with the speaker as well. was there any work done to it? screen replaced etc,? the component may be slightly off or obscured by the adhesive. hope this helps
