If I replace the screen, will I lose apple pay if I haven't fully set

I got my apple watch 3 as a gift last year. I put in my credit card on apple pay, but have not verified the credit card yet, still needs to be verified. I don’t want to pay $150+ to get it repaired, but I can repair it myself. However , I don’t want to lose apple pay on my apple watch.

I know that removing the credit card from apple pay has a chance of working. But does this work all the time?

I don't think there is a definitive answer to that, especially if it is not fully set up.

As it reads on the guides: "Replacing the display can cause issues with Apple Pay. If possible, to reduce the likelihood of problems, delete all your Apple Pay account info before the replacement, and then re-enter it with the new display installed."

NFC can be replaced from the old screen but you would need to reprogram it...

I may not replace the display and just send it in. I realized that if I do replace the screen, it wouldn't be waterproof anymore, thanks for your help though!
