Can't boot due to low battery, battery has charge after wired boot

Recently in replaced the battery of my Macbook Pro 15” 2015 for the second time after receiving a faulty battery that degraded super fast (80 cycles 46% capacity) and from the beginning showed service battery (reseting the SMC or reinstalling mac os had no effect). The new battery capacity is great at 104% capacity after 4 cycles but there seems to be strange behaviour that I didn’t experience before.

When I close the lid and keep it closed for a couple of hours or longer and open the lid again my mac does not automatically turn on. I am presented with an inactive black screen and have to press the power button to turn it on. After that I get the battery is empty icon. This wouldn't be strange if the battery was actually empty but after connecting it to power and pressing the power button the computer doesn't boot but seems to come out of sleep and shows the same amount of battery percentage that it had before I closed it. I have tried reseting the SMC but that hasn't fixed it. When using the macbook the battery seems to be performing normal. The battery usage history shows a gap a few hours after closing the lid of my macbook…

Has anyone experienced this behaviour and found a fix for it? Or is this a problem with the new battery?

I am running Big Sur 11.6 if that helps :)

Are you seeing something running in background draining your battery? While drastic I would backup my system using TimeMachine and then erase the drive fully and re-install a fresh copy of macOS to make sure.

After that and only use fresh Apps from the Apps Store with all of the updates either need what happens then?

Update (09/22/2021)

@jipjip9000 - Batteries fail either due to cycles (use) or by age yours has failed by age. This is still the original battery your system had when you bought it.

I'm sure if you had a car which seven or eight years old you’ve likely replace its battery by now. Just like a car battery there are environmental variables How long do car batteries last? Most only last three to four years.

So its time for your system to get a new battery! MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2015) Battery and here's the guide MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2015 Battery Replacement

The battery doesn’t actually drain but my mac seems to think that it is empty. When I connect the charger it instantly shows the same amount of charge on the battery as before closing the lid. Afterward the battery performs normally. For some reason it needs to be connected to the charger for a second and can continue without it afterwards without any problems

@ danj To be clear this is a brand new battery from Ifixit. The second one actually after I got a replacement for a previous faulty replacement battery from Ifixit. Cycle count of 5 and the battery has been installed in my system for less than a month

@jipjip9000, I'm having the same issue. Did changing the battery again fix it?

Thanks
