Samsung TV red standby light blinks twice, TV stuck in boot loop

TV model # UN75NU8000F turned off while watching Netflix and began a continuous boot loop. You can hear an audible click as the TV attempts to power on and the screen briefly lights up with a light blue hue - standby red light blinks twice before TV starts the process again and continues until unplugged. Have tried all steps to troubleshoot besides replacing internal components/boards. Samsung technical care has informed me that two blinking lights is code that the LCD panel has gone bad and needs replaced despite me telling them I can visually see it light up for a second before the boot loop continues.

Pictures of boards attached, dont see any capacitors that are apparent issues and need replaced, looking for some advice.

Hi. Have you solved your problem?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Have you found out how much it is to repair? We just had the same thing happen with our 70” Samsung. Exactly the same thing, stuck in the loop of on/off after two red blinks. Purple-ish hue

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Ive seen this happen and the only way to fix it is to send it to Samsung but its not gonna be cheap let me tell you. Theres probably a way to fix it that im unaware of but I would just send it to Samsung.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Mines doing this same thing but if you let it just sit for so long it will eventually turn on.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Same thing happened to me today and did everything but nothing worked. Tech profet have a video to cover pins on the belt however haven't tried it

Yes the update is the repair service said the screen is not communicating with the TV. He said that he will have to replace the whole screen. Still under warranty and will probably take a week to get the part in. I mentioned that it would be cheaper to just give me a new TV and he agreed but that wasn’t his decision. I asked about the lcd board and he said he checked and it was fine. I will let you all know if the screen replacement works

@satishkuma73529 @chrisinsley and all on here. So, there is a lot of stuff going on here. Lets try and refocus on this issue. We all know that the larger Samsung TV with the NU designation, has a lot of panel issues. You will still have to do the common check to rule the panel in/out. So start with your power board. Unplug your TV. Remove the back panel (it's a beast because of size). Now disconnect the main board cable from the power board. Now plug the power cable into the power board. this should turn the power supply on and your back lights should come on. you can see those through the holes in the metal of the LCD panel. If they do, good. That means power supply is A-Ok. If not, bad= power supply.

Next, disconnect the power cable. Reconnect the main board. Disconnect one of the ribbon cables from the T-con board to the LCD driver boards.. Those are the "long , skinny boards" that connect directly to the LCD panel. Now turn the TV on. Let us know what happens. Turn the TV off, disconnect the power cable. Reconnect the ribbon cable you disconnected and disconnect the other one. Reconnect the power cable and turn your TV on. Let us know what happens. What you should expect is that at least on side will let one half ot ht eTV panel work. That is why it is important to know what happens when you d/c those cables. One at a time and always disconnect the power.

Ultimately it does sound like a bad panel (LCD driver board. There are no schematics for those, nor are they replaceable by the normal DIY'er, due to the process with which they have been fastened to the panel. The only thing that one could try is a Tape -off. This only works about 3/4 of the time so there are no guarantees. It only works if it is the panel that has failed. It will not do anything if this is caused by a bad T-con board etc. Since nobody has posted any pictures of that, we can not mark test points for voltage checks on that. The larger the panel, the more LCD driver board your panel has, the more difficult it is. If you have more than 1 driver board per side, you will have to disconnect them as well and check those the same way as you checked the ones coming from the T-con board. Disconnect power, disconnect ribbon cable from one driver board to the next, reconnect power and turn on. Results? Anyhow a bunch of pictures would make a difference in explaining this. Anyhow, here are some examples of how to perform the Tape -Off.

Hi, I replaced my power board and same issue so disconnected the cable as you suggested and the TV came on without the clicking reboot cycle. It’s only when I plug the cable back in to the power board that the clicking cycle back to standby occurs. Do you have any suggestions? Apologies if you’ve already explained this, I’m not very technical

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Edit: the screen is not actually on but prior to this issue it would take 10 mins to warm up, just a few pixels at first then would come on. I reconnected the power board while already on and it didn’t return to standby. It’s only when I turn power off and back on with board connected that it does the standby clicking cycle

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@josephflan60020 the clicking etc. is usually caused by a bad main board. Have you checked the voltages on the power board connector, where the main board connects too? Compare those voltages to what is printed on the power board and let us know what you find

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Ok thank you. I don’t have anything to check the voltage but I will get something and get back to you. I had just noticed that the cable that plugs in to the power board appears to be brown/charred on the white plastic casing. Not sure if that has any relevance?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@josephflan. Could be, post some pictures so we can evaluate

I've been wondering if it has anything to do with temperature, because the LCD does get relatively warm after a few minutes of being turned on (which it can't when it's boot-looping because it doesn't stay in long enough). If I turn the TV off, and back on right after that, it usually turns on fine. But if I let it cool down it usually doesn't turn back in.

I just had this same problem. I tried unplugging the tv, holding the power button, and changing the outlet. Surprisingly what worked is taking the batteries out the remote then holding the power button on the remote for 15 seconds while the batteries are out. The tv then turned on fully. Hope this help someone.

Brilliant hack. It worked for me on my moms tv. Had to do it twice. First time 15 seconds and it showed some improvement. Next time 30 seconds and voila. Problem solved. Only 2 years old 😮

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Done the remove battery's from remote it came on but then cut off again, tried again later same thing was on for about 5 mins I went through menu's checking eco settings and all off but then tv cut off again

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

When doing this exercise with the remote is the TV plugged into the power? My TV is continuously trying to start up. Sounds like it might and fails. Cycles again and again. Click click and screen glows blue for 1/2 second.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

It can sometimes be a backlight problem too.. I jxt encountered some.. and also about the panel too disconnect it's ribbon cables and see if the TV turns on then connect it one by one to see.

Same here... Worked with the remote after i removed batteries and pressed the power button 15 sec.

It apperard some small horizontal lines, that is a defective LCD panel about to die, or what issue is causing this simptome?

crwdns2944067:04crwdne2944067:0:

@csababiro64432 horizontal lines like this are most commonly caused by failing Gate Drivers. Depending on the panel, you may or may not get to them (CoF)

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Thank you for fast reply, next week I will take it apart and take a look.

This will be worser in the future, i mean could appear more lines ?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@csababiro64432 it is possible. Depends if this is an issues with corrosion releasing the bond that adhere the wires to the LCD or if this is an issue on the driver boards.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

I will check and get back next week when I will have some time. Thank you for your help.
