When powered goes to sensing fill and stays there, WTW4815EW1

With water in it, if powered on goes to sensing fill flashing doing nothing. If cancelled it makes a humming noise from control panel. Had emptied it and was able to run calibration. Then ran clean and full of water and same problem. need to get to hardware store to get hosing for pump to pump it out. Hoping to solve issue now if possible. Is there some way to manually force it to drain? I have very hairy dogs and most wash is their blankets. When drying I get handfulls of hair in lint trap. Thinking maybe drain pump clogged with hair. Whirlpool HE WTW4815EW1

Was able to pump out to toilet nearby, with pump. Ran automated diagnostic and passed. It does not drain though. Shouldn’t the test check for that? Not draining is what I think the problem is.

Any suggestions on what to check?? Does back panel have to come off, or is everything done from bottom. Hoping back panel since very small room and may have to drag into yard to access bottom.

Hi @noj111 ,

Regarding the sense fill light flashing see the comment by @ladytech to Kwftlaud on June 2, in the 3rd answer down in this link as she explains it better than I can ;-)

You most probably already have it but here’s the Tech Sheet - W10740624 - Rev B for the washer.

Go to p.9 to view how to manually test the drain pump.

If it doesn’t work then on p.17 there’s the drain pump electrical operate circuit which may help.

If the pump (and any other part) is faulty then here’s a supplier of parts for the machine. It is only to show where they’re located and the cost of the part. There are other suppliers online that may suit you better. Just search for WTW4815EW1 parts to get results

I tried that, and none of those tests did anything. The lights would flash when hitting start button when correct light sequence was selected, and just flash doing nothing. Only one that did anything was lock of lid. Tried hot, cold, and agitation, which also did nothing. Will try getting the tiny amoiunt of water left in it, out, and try one more time. I found a youtube video that suggested removing pump and looking for something stuck in it. Was not very similar to mine, but was going to try that. Some of what I wash is bedding for a kinkajou, which gets shredded, so maybe loose threads could have got in there. Video showed a pair of stockings being removed, which I could not imagine getting through the small holes in wash barrel. Maybe I will try calibrate and try test again. I was going to throw it out when I moved into house because it constantly failed during wash, till I found how to do that.

Got water out, and tried again. Get humming noise which makes me think something jammed. Now just need to find out how to disassemble to get to pump. Hoping in front like one I saw that had different console style.

I imagine the back panel comes off to expose pump on this model? The one in video the entire front slid off and pump was in very front. Not mentioned at all in manual (unless I missed it).

@noj111

The "Gearcase, motor and pump parts" diagram in the parts supplier link I posted above shows where the pump (part #1) is located but not how to get to it.

Fixed!!!!

A baby sock from people that have not lived here in over 2 years was jammed between pump and tub, when pump was taken off.

Drain diagnostics does not indicate a jam, only total pump failure.

Involved disconnect power, shutting valves, removing feed hoses, removing drain hose and collecting water, flip machine to access bottom, disconnect wire harness, and 3 5/16ths bolts holding pump in place. Could easily be done in less than 10 minutes if everything goes smoothly (container to collect water and right size nut driver).

@noj111

Thanks for the feedback.

obviously the sock was small enough to get through the holes in the tub then?

@jayeff No way possible to go through hole. People here before me were renters, and probably cramming as much as they could into it, and went over top of drum while it was tilted. Surprised it took so long. Was wondering if drum could easily be removed to see if anything else in that area.
