Left side USB/Headphone sockets not working. Can I replace that part?

MacBook Air 11 inch mid-2013 A1465.

I have had for months, a common problem where I get an annoying notification that will not go away, “USB using too much power, ports disconnected, unplug some USB devices” None are attached. Apart from that, it works fine.

Anyways, my local Apple dealer explained that although the other USB port was still working, the left one that sits next to the charging socket was dead. It is apparently assembled with the Earphone socket. The only repair is a new motherboard (around $230), which considering the value of the Macbook Air (less than $200) is too much for me.

I am wondering if I can replace the dead USB/Headphone port and would that help?

Meanwhile, I have purchased a new Macbook Air but it would be a nice achievement if I could get the old one working again.

Usually, with a MacBook Air, the left ports are on a separate logic board that is replaceable. Take a look at the attached image, the right-hand side in the photo would be your left side ports. Its a relatively easy repair to do and should take longer the 20 - 30 minutes by someone in experienced :)

Thanks. I was told by an Apple-certified shop that it was the mother Board. But now I will replace the I/O board as you suggested and give the repaired MBA to our daughter.
