Kernal task 300% after trackpad replacement

Just replaced my trackpad using ifixit parts and guide and the kernal task is about 300% with the fan running on high. Temps are normal, smc and pram resets did nothing. I suspect it may be so to an aftermarket part but I didn't think think solving one problem would cause another that now causes everything to run ridiculously slow with the high cpu usage. Any known solutions?
