Looking for Service Manual for Philco 47-121 115Vac Radio

I’m looking for the service manual for an antique radio, Philco 47-121, operating from 115Vac. The only copy I found is on AtoZManuals, but they require me to install software that monitors my activities. They might as well ask for my first-born son! I would be willing to pay a few dollars for a decent copy, but I don’t want to give up my privacy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update (10/05/2020)

Was anybody ever able to find a schematic or other info for this radio? If not, is there someone in the area of London Ontario that knows a thing or two about these types of antique radios? Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi @kmartinek ,

Have you seen this link for a Philco 47A-121?

It may be close enough to your model as it also has 5 valves. (scroll down the images on the right and then click on Next pictures to see an original layout diagram of the radio)

Maybe you can contact Victor Sevilla through the website (apparently it is part of his collection) and ask if there is a copy of the schematics.

Just a thought

I have come across the website you mention, but their link leads to AtoZManuals, and is thus not a safe solution. However, I have not tried to contact Victor; I'll give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've added three photos of my radio chassis. Thank you for your help.

@kmartinek awesome and it's a beauty. I hope we can find the right manual for you. BTW what is the issue with it?

AtoZ manual is nothing but a rogue application that searches for products. You are absolutely right not to do anything with them/that and I seriously doubt that they can even deliver a manual.

As you might be able to tell from the photos, I've replaced a few capacitors. The sound is kinda scratchy and there's a hum. I presume the power supply filtering is insufficient, and perhaps the IF stage needs aligning.

@kmartinek see if this is your radio. Should be a 47 DC (121-221)philco_47_121_221_dc_radio_sm.pdf

Thank you for your reply, but that schematic is for a DC powered radio, whereas mine is powered by 115Vac. Also, the chassis in my radio has 5 tubes, not 8 as in your link. It's too bad Philco had such similar numbers for completely different products. Again, thank you for your suggestion.

crwdns2893770:0crwdnd2893770:0crwdne2893770:0

Which website did you get the DC version from? Perhaps they have a service manual for my AC version. Thanks.

@kmartinek post some good picture of the chassis with your QUESTION. The five tube I have are the 47-205 etc. If I can see the chassis layout I can check with what I have. Adding images to an existing question

I have the complete Rider collection which pretty much shows every Chassis BUT the 47A so still working on that.

I think the reason my radio's chassis is so rare is because it was made in Toronto, Canada, according to the label.

crwdns2893770:0crwdnd2893770:0crwdne2893770:0

Yes it is. The model 47 (47A is a totally different story :-) is not hard to find (the 121 just denotes that it should be AM only and have 3 buttons and a standard set of tubes) We'll keep on picking away on it.
