Airport/Bluetooth says on, but not connecting

The airport utility says that the airport is on and has a yellow light. When I try to connect to my network it doesnt read anything, not even near by networks. Is this a sign of a bad card, or is there something I am missing with setting this device up? It works fine when plugged in to Ethernet and all other network settings with/without security do not fix the problem.
