The most reason is date and time settings. It happens to me a lot since i remove the battery from iphone 4 while doing repairs.

When you remove battery date goes back to 1960's or 1980's. and time becomes 6:00pm. That doesnt match the information on your iphone and it becomes disabled.

Because of that phone disable itself for more than million minutes.

The best way is to put a working sim card in it and reboot 2 times. While your sim register to network it sets your date and time automaticly to today. And you can use your phone without erasing it.

It worked for me more than 100 times.

I have tried this method. I have an iphone 5s with this problem. The LCD was changed without a sim card in it. I have put a working sim card into the phone and rebooted more than 10 times. Have you got another solution for this?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

great bang on thanks

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

It's TRUE, just try to put on a sim card reboot your phone, this solution can also help when your phone can't registry onto a network, in that case go to "date and time" set automatically and connect to wifi

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Thanks a lot. It works!!!!!!

I can fully accept that the phone is disabled because the time and date are wrong, I had this following a repair on a 5s and then it found a signal with the appropriate SIM card and was back in action. I now have the same issue with an iPhone 4 that I'm repairing and testing.

Regards,

Steve...

Its several reasons why an iphone would be disabled, (1) the most common reason is to many failed attempts on the pass code screen. (2) If someone accesses your I-Cloud account from another device & change your security settings. (3) If your phone is connected to a computer with out-dated software ( I-tunes) this could disable your phone as well. You have two options re-connect your phone to i-tunes that you usually back up your phone on & press restore, or wait the allotted time & enter in the correct pass code on your mobile device.

I figured it out.

resintall the iOS and it solved the issue. to install the ios start the ipad in restore mode by following the below steps.

Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.

Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.

While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.

Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.

iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

i just had the same problem and found a solution :

just put a sim card on your iphone and call it with another phone.

if iphone receives the call, waiting time will be gone

Just and Just try with working sim card and hard rest it twice. 100% 100% would work.

I contacted “Apple Support” in regards to the above matter. I have an iPhone 4 that hasn’t been used in a long time but worked until one day when it asked me for the PUK code. At that time, I had no idea what the code was and didn’t lock my SIM. So, I tried common numbers me and my family would use (I gave the phone to my dad and thoght he may have unknowingly locked it.). He uses the same number for amost everything. Hence, I entered the number but it was not correct. So, I put in other numbers used by me and my family. I guessed wrong too many times and got locked out for 25 million minutes.

Years have gone by and a friend was in need of a phone. So, I decided to try to fix this problem.

I did all of the above along with trying do a factory reset. Nothing has worked.

So, I called “Apple Support”, I told the “Support Technician” the problem and then asked about the PUK code. She didn’t know what a PUK code was!!! She advised me to connect to iTunes through any computer and reset the phone to factory settings. I had no luck.

The laptop I connected the phone to via iTunes is long gone. I told support that I would Google “PUK code” and see if I coukd find a soloution. After googling it, I discovered that there is a default PUK code for my phone carrrier, AT&T.

Wish, I did this years ago prior to just guessing numbers.

I remember restoring the phone to factory settings and shutting it off. A few months later, I lost my iPhone 6 and wanted to use my 4 until I got a replacement through insurance. Upon turning it on, it said PUK locked enter code to unlock. This is when I got locked out for entering the wrong code too many times. I shut the phone off. It sat in a draw for years, until last week. didn’t turn it until last week.

I have tried removing the SIM, rebooting it, etc. I can’t figure it out.

If I activated the SIM under my At&t account would it fix the problem?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Or do I have to wait 24 million minutes to enter the default code?

The phone was reset to factory settings years ago..

If I try to use iTunes it request the Apple ID and password which isn’t associated with that phone.

Could I access and resolve the lock out time by using any computer to sign into my old iTunes account that I used with that phone?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
