Parts of screen are red that should be black

The built in monitor portions of the screen that should be black are red. If I plug in a second monitor everything is displayed fine. A screen shot doesn’t show the problem on a normal screen. This happened suddenly after start up. What could be wrong?

A screen shot is working off of the graphics RAM image not the physical screens, so what you saw is what is expected. You would need to use your phones camera to capture the issue.

In any case the issue is downstream from and including the logic boards LVDS connection and including the display its self.

At this point you need pop the bottom cover off and inspect the LVDS connector interface for corrosion, if that is not the issue you’ll need to replace the LVDS cable and/or the display assembly. Follow this guide MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Early 2011 Display Replacement to Step 4, then jump down to Step 14.
