I have been using a western digital my passport for about a year now however recently after playing my passport shut off, originally I assumed it was because of overheating and I disconnected it after I had shut my PlayStation off, however the hard drive now won’t turn on even after I bought a new wire is there something that I can do to fix it

Is it still under warranty? These drives are almost impossible to be repaired.
They can not be repaired as the USB port is part of the drive’s circuit board!
Shame on Western Digital.
I know this will not help you now, but in the future it is better to buy a seperate external case and hard drive. Why? Easy to upgrade. If the case dies the hard drive is still good. Easy to increase drive size sometime in the future.
