Home pops up repeatedly, like "HOME" is being pressed when its not.

Sony KDL-40W600B

The display started having a problem where it would switch modes from “Vivid” to what a different setting. It would have to be changed back manually, around the same time the “Home” screen would randomly pop up as if someone pressed the “HOME” button on the remote. The screen issue has gone away, but now this “HOME” screen pops randomly. Sometimes its every 20 seconds, then it goes 15 min, but comes back. REmoved the batteries from the remote, NO difference. what is going on? this tV is awesome but its hard to do anything with this screen popping up. is there a frequency that is coming from outside???

Hi,

Just verifying that there is only 1 remote associated with the TV and not another one such as a Firestick remote etc?

Turn off the TV and check that the Home button on the button controls at the back of the TV is not stuck in the half operated position by pressing it a few times. Turn on the TV to check if the problem has stopped.

If it is still happening, turn off the TV, disconnect the power from the TV and then remove the back cover from the TV.

Locate the cable going to the control button board on the back of the TV and either disconnect it from the button board or at the mainboard where it connects to.

Check the cable connection first for any locking bars or latches etc before unplugging the cable. If it just plugs in remove it by using the plug and not the wires as you may pull the wires out of the plug if it is that type of cable connector.

Reconnect the power to the TV and use the remote to turn it on and check if the problem is still there or not.

Be safety aware when you do this as there is exposed lethal voltage in the back of a TV. Turn off the TV and disconnect the power from the TV, before doing anything in or near the back of the TV.

If the problem is not there anymore, then the Home button on the button board is the cause
