My external drive won't appear on my desktop
I have a 5TB Seagate Backup Plus that I was using out of the norm (as an Xbox One hard drive) and it just stopped working late last year after a storm. The hard drive turns on as normal, but I can’t pull it up on my desktop, Macbook, or game console, and the power indicator light keeps flashing. I plugged it in today, after months, and it started pulling up again, but not for long. 10-15 seconds at best. I’ve had this thing since 2015 and would hate to throw it out, any suggestions?

People, STOP buying these "ready-made" external hard drives. Most of them use proprietary interfaces so you can't replace either the drive (to upgrade to larger capacity or an SSD) or the case/electronics.
Buy a separate external case with a USB 3.1 interface. They work with ALL standard SATA 2.5 inch SSD and HDD drives. Yes there are also one for the 3.5 inch drives.
Some are even waterproof (to a certain degree), shock proof, accept 9.5 and 12.5 inch drives and are simple quick opening cases. Oh, and much cheaper than the WD, Seagate, etc.
Then you can either buy a standard or use a spare drive lest over from an upgrade.
