Error "CSSMERR_TP_CERT_NOT_VALID_YET" while install the OS Mavericks

Hello,

I am trying to install a fresh copy of OS-X Mavericks on my 13” MacBook Pro.

I did a bootable USB, but every time I tried to install the OS, it says : “impossible to verify this copy. It has been damaged, or altered during the installation. I tried a different USB, same issue.

So I went to the historic of the installation program. It says

Error : CSSMERR_TP_CERT_NOT_VALID_YET.

Would you have any ideas to help me to have an OS :)

It’s probably a time and date induced error because of installer certificates expired. You should try take your clock backwords, but you’ll need to do it from the terminal if you have no OS on your Mac. Thank you @arbaman again , i tried to take my clock backwords from the terminal, I tried the date of today, and a random date in 2017. It does'nt work. But the error msg is different :

OS X couldnt be install

the verification or repair of the system failed.

Leave the program of installation to reboot your computer.

It is a progress, we are on the right road :)

@anaisrqr Heaven only knows when that certificate expired..I've not installed Mavericks for years at least..never liked it actually :D Pls try Sierra as @danj already recommended..keep us posted..

@arbaman Hello, I am writting from the Mac. :) It was complicated, nothing worked, i couldn't install any OS. (high sierra, leopard, el capitan). I couldn't figure out why. Once i was creating the bootable USB, the installation was starting, and at the end a message was popping up again and again saying it was impossible to install the OS, an element was missing.

A friend sold me an SSD harddrive with el capitan on it, and not formated. So i put it inside, and deleted manually everything. Now it is working :)

Here’s a bit more info If you've got an old macOS install image, it will probably stop working today! Apple did release updated macOS’s for Sierra, Hight Sierra & Mojave releases.

Sadly, the older ones were not updated. You’ll need to back date your systems Date & Time setting to a year thats within OS release window.

@anaisrqr - Is there a reason you want to stay at Mavericks? How about upgrading to Sierra

Here's a good image file: How to upgrade to macOS Sierra jump to Step 4 for the link. Then setup an OS installer USB thumb drive following this guide How to create a bootable macOS Sierra installer drive and lastly restart your system from the installer pressing the Option key when you restart your system.

@anaisrqr - Happy you're up and running! Sounds like you hit a double whammy!

Besides the OS certificate issue either the HDD was failing or the HD SATA cable your system has is only a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) and the HDD/SSD you put in was a SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) drive which over stretched the cables ability. Check your system report under 'About This Mac' under the SATA port info tab. I bet you the SATA port speed with be 6.0 Gb/s and the negotiated will be 3.0 Gb/s as the SSD you've put in is an older one.

This cable is a bit fragile too, so you may want to replace it and in doing so you'll get the full ability of what the system can offer! Your Hard Drive Cable Is A Ticking Time Bomb
