Should the fans run all the time on a 820 00239

I got sent a mac which had the U5860 temp sensor torn off along with all the pads on the board. It would take ages to boot if at all and the fans where spinning flat out. I turtled the chip, ran 9 jumpers, masked the chip and jumpers and installed the board back into its housing. I have tried all the resets.

·         The mac boots straight up but the fans do not spin

·         When I run the diagnostic check it will spin each fan separately

·         The diagnostic results show no problems detected.

We live in a cold climate I have tried playing YouTube videos to get the fans to spin but they don’t. The CPU doesn’t feel extremely hot. Am I missing something or is it normal on these newer macs?

Unless you are located on Antarctica right now, your not is a cold enough climate to worry about SMC and the thermal sensors ;-}

Thanks Dan. TG-PRO displayed a message saying. “This model of mac will safely turn the fans off when the CPU is running at low capacity.” That’s all I wanted to know.
