How do you disconnect the digitizer to motherboard cable for 9612T-LM

Not sure if the circled piece at the end of ribbon can be pried up. Didnt want to break it.

Do you simply pull the ribbon out without prying up the circled piece?

Update (08/10/2019)

@oldturkey03 Ok, finally got the replacment digitizer in. Was able to take off the EMI shield, wasnt too bad. You’re right, was simple zif connector underneath. Now I noticed I have to reuse the overlay from the old unit but it has a connector (yellow box in pic) that I've never dealt with before. How do you take it off? Also, I guess I need double sided tape (red box in pic) to secure the overlay to new digitizer. Any idea was size/type of tape I need?

How do I get the case open to replace the battery? I have 2 of these and both have dead batteries.

@abea that looks more like a heatsink and most likely will not come off easy. Post an image that shows the end where the ribbon cable terminates.

Update (08/08/2019)

@abea that looks a bit odd. Since we cannot identify what connector this ribbon cable has I would remove the EMI shield(? what I previously mistook as a heat shield) and try to get a closer look. It is possible that this is a simple ZIF connector but I’d hate to guess.

Gotcha. There doesn't appear to be any screws, how do I go about getting the Emi shield off? Which end do I pry?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Soldering iron, heat gun, tin snips or sharp scissors sometimes work as well. PITA but this is to odd.

@oldturkey03 Not sure if you receive notifications for updates. Need your help with probably the last step with a connector. Thx again

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@abea that needs to get soldered :-( Use some flux and a decent soldering iron. Challenge will be that the solder "lines" cannot cross over to each other.
