Installing ssd upgrade bundle kit

I purchased the SSD upgrade bundle kit for my mid2010 MacBook Pro and I am very confused (and hungry!) BUT I remain determined.

I can’t figure out all of the steps to take and how to do them in order to complete this. I have been googling for hours (which is part of the problem!) and can’t find one video or instructions on how to do this from beginning to end. Some articles start, for example, at the 5th step assuming that the reader knows the first 4 steps. I don’t know steps 1-4… clone your hard drive, be sure it’s a bootable disk etc. I don’t know if what is in this bundle is all I need.

Can anyone tell me how to do this or where to find info on how to do this from beginning to end using the iFixit MacBook Pro (Non-Retina) SSD Upgrade Bundle / 500GB Kit?

I’m also afraid of downloading an app to clone? that may have malware. I’ve seen messages here “Don’t download xxxx. It’s malware!” YIKES!!

I sincerely appreciate any help (except from malware tricksters! :) )

Hi

last time i had to do this, i simply use macos. First i prepared a new boot disk on ssd with the last macos version: i boot on recovery partition and follow step by step the instructions. When it was done, i boot on the new disk with the old one accessible and i was proposed to copy the data from old disk to new one. Don’t be in a rush it takes more than 10 hours for a 500g disk.

go to apple forum, it is described somewhere
