I can no longer access the 3GB drive anymore how do I open it

I can no longer access the 3GB drive in the Time Capsule. The WiFi router is still working OK and the Time capsule is listed in the left column of finder windows but when I try to connect to the drive via WiFi or Ethernet I just get a message that there is a problem connecting. I want to try removing the drive to test it separately to try to save the data and maybe replace the drive but…

How do I open the time capsule?

It’s pretty easy, you just open up the bottom, disconnect some cords, and pull it out (basically). iFixit has a guide with full details you can follow.

Do keep in mind the drives format is unique to the TC (it is not natively mac readable). If you really need to save the data you'll need to transfer to another A1470 capsule. Thats assuming the drive is still good.

Your other option is to use a data recovery app like Stelalr
