What is the best machine to buy for glass only repair?

hi everyone

i hope you are all well. my name is joe i am from the uk. i am looking at starting a glass only repair business for phones and ipads. i have been making a bit of money replacing lcd screens but id like to take it to the next level and increase my profits.

i have been doing alot of research through youtube but would really like to chat to some experienced people in this line of repair work and get a bit more knowledge before i commit alot of money into buying machines i dont really know a great deal about.

so far to get the business up and running i need to invest in a good quality oca laminating machine aswell as the other bits like a hot plate and autoclave. i havnt got thousands to spend so something well priced to just get the job done, but done well.

would a machine with everything built in be best? i.e the pump and air compressor and de-bubbler or for the best results is it best to get these things individually?

there is alot of equipment on the market, i have seen a machine called tbk-208 on a site called tvc-mall.com which seemed fairly cheap but i would have to buy the air compressor and pump to go with it which i dont know which would work best to go with that specific machine and where to get one. some machines that are a bit more expensive have everything built in including the de-bubbler so maybe that would be best?

i appreciate you get what you pay for but money is tight in the beginning and these machines are not cheap! any help is massivly appreciated. thankyou for your time.

joe

Hi Joe. Speaking from experience, there are tools and parts to buy. And to fix an iPhone is to first gain knowledge of every last detail of the ever increasing amount of everything that can go wrong, or is alternatively designed to cause a during-procedure brick.

What I mean by brick is the device will lose all functionality. Hence you’d be the owner of a brick. You can paperweight it. I’m not trying to scare ya. This is really how it is. So can you elaborate? I’ll answer a more specific question.

thanks for your feedback alexander my main scope of repairs to begin with is to work on phones that are still fully functional just with cracked screens i.e the glass digitizers with lcd’s that still work so i know what im dealing with and refurb them using machinery. i will buy the phones for a cheap price then fix then sell on for a profit and also repair any phones/ipad screens that people own that bring to me. just need to decide what equipment to purchase then get going and learn along the way. at the end of the day i know im going to make a few mistakes bit thats a good way of learning the trade.

I second that. There aren't many refurbishers on this forum so you won't get a lot of answers. Keep in mind that the group Daniel suggested is sponsored by OCA Masters. There are also several other groups, including some specific to the UK if you follow this link.

Keep in mind that some of these groups have pretty regular flame wars ;>).

id buy separate machines, parts do break on these and you don't want to be left waiting for repair parts i.e. pumps and motors. practice with damaged lcd ones first.
