Why doesn't my primary rear camera module work?

Dear Community,

I have an iPhone 7 Plus, which is unable use the rear camera module connected to the primary connector. If I open the offical Camera app I can change between the front facing and the rear cameras, the front one works well, but the rear main is only working when I enable the secondary lens with the ZOOM 2x button. I am not able the use the LEDs as flashlight / torch, but they work fine with the secondary lens. I swapped the camera module from another phone, I see the same symptoms. Any clue?

If you tried a known-good camera and it didn’t solve the problem, then the issue is on the logic board. The rear camera is a fairly complex piece of hardware, with a zoom camera and a regular camera. They each require multiple voltages to work so if one of the voltage rails for the regular camera is not working, then that camera will not work and the flash will also not work.

This will require some board-level troubleshooting and most likely a micro-soldering repair.
