When I turn on my speaker, there is a flashing blue light (meaning it’s searching for a bluetooth connection), but when I try to connect it to my phone, my phone doesn’t sense it and says connection unsuccessful

Have you tried connecting it to other devices? If not try connecting it to a different device.

Just tried it with a different phone and it worked; could it be a problem with my phone? (maybe an older ios or something)
@cmengun2000 What is the make and Model of your phone? (ex. iPhone 7 Plus or Samsung Galaxy S8) Also try rebooting your phone and see if it works after rebooting.
Rebooting it didn't work. I have an iPhone 6S running an older patch of ios 11.
@cmengun2000 Are you able to upgrade to iOS 11.4.1 or even iOS 12?
Just updated to ios 12 and it worked! Thanks for all your help!
Mine will no longer pair and play my google pixel 3. Worked fine until yesterday. It pairs and plays on wife's iPhone

@JCM, it will only connect to one device. If it is still connected to your wife's iPhone, it will not connect on yours. You have to turn bluetooth off on your wife's iPhone or disconnect it from bluetooth on your wife's iPhone and then try again with your phone.
How do you disconnect from a device via the speaker? I do not have access to the connected device, I only have access to the speaker. Turning on/off does not disconnect.

I lost my old phone it was connected to so can't unpair it and it won't show up as an option on my current iphone. Is there anyway to get it to pair with the new phone?
