Wanting to bypass battery and use plug in cord only

Is there a modification that allows me to run the iPod (6th gen) continuously off of the ac adaptor and have the battery removed? Reason I'm asking is that I use this for our phone sys hold music so it requires it to remain plugged in all the time. Have the swollen battery/fire hazard issue that I'm trying to bypass.

I'm not sure about the iPad Touch but on the iPhone, once it is booted, you can disconnect the battery and let it run of of USB power. This does require that the iPod screen be opened and is not an elegant solution. Theoretically, if the charging circuit works well, it wont charge the battery (trickle charge) when it is full so even if it remains connected, it shouldn't degrade the battery.
