ps4 turns on for a second, beeps 3 times then shuts off

My console was overheating so I tore it down and replaced the thermal paste (4ish year old console). The fan was running before, but clearly not well because the console shut off on me when I was playing a game. The inside is clean and free of dust, new thermal paste and pads have been applied. Put it back together and now I'm getting a single beep, fan kicks on, then it immediately beeps 3 times and shuts off.

Any ideas?

Did you remove the entire bottom plate and clean the heat sink?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@tronicsfix yes, the heat sink is clean and clear of dust

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Hmmm...well unfortunately, there's just no way for me to know what's causing it without being able to test it. Looks like you've tried all the easy stuff.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Just a long shot, but you could try removing the power pack, and reseating it, making sure it makes a good connection.

Seems like it was power connection on the power supply. After tearing it down and starting again, it's working great. Thanks guys!

what do you mean by this cos i did the same and know its happening to me

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

You have to make sure all the bending ground pins are not bent down if there not all grounding the mother board correctly it won't turn on. I had the same problem I took it back apart bent all the pins up a little and put it back together and works perfect now!!

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

if it still doesn't work.. when removing the mother board you expose the apc from the old thermal paste, apply new thermal paste on apc and bang bobs your uncle, runs like new concluding you cleaned the fan too

I had the same issue after a clean out. I’d used regular heat sink compound (white colour)and after striping down again used a high-density silver heat sink compound (grey colour) and didn’t apply as much. Worked for me, don’t know if it was a fluke. Good luck

If the PS4 was left off for an extensively long time, the fan may be dusty. Try cleaning off the fan for the console and restarting it. Thank you!

Deep clean, motherboard & battery out.

Plugged it in to play and BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. Fan kicks in, goes mad then shuts down (red light)…

Now what?! Noticed the thermal paste is old and flaky and hardly anything in it

You have 2 options replace the thermal paste or buy a new power supply with a thermal paste jusy in case i have th same issue right now

crwdns2934285:0crwdne2934285:0

First step: USE THERMAL PASTE

Mine just worked today after 1month of desperation of fixing . The Thermal toothpaste really surprised me in one application. While there are the blue/white light of death but mine is turn on and turn dead after 3 beeps. I cleaned it first time and the problem started happening. It was a bit trouble to find remedy for it like idk what really was the problem but it was just a simple thermal paste problem. So, I bought the thermal paste and i can hear the jet once again. Oh yeah, it fixed overheating as well.
