DP42D23 TV will not power on, no power light or screen response
A few weeks ago my Sanyo DP42D23 failed while in use. While viewing Roku HDMI input, the screen suddenly displayed multicolored "noise" for a few seconds, then went black.
On this particular model, I didn't see any replaceable fuses on the power board. I got a very cheap replacement power board pulled from a working/cracked panel set, and still have no response. I have tried letting the device sit without power overnight, holding down power button for 2+ minutes, etc., without improvement.
The TV was connected to high-quality surge protectors at the time it stopped working and no other devices on the same power supply were affected. It was also connected to a coax antenna which was not surge protected, but there was no storm activity whatsoever at the time of failure, and the antenna is an attic-mounted Mohu unit that wouldn't easily come in contact with surge-level voltage. However, part of the coax cable does run outside above ground, so a coax surge is technically possible.
My next options are to replace the power cable, or replace the video board. The power board end of the molex-type power cable makes a "rattling" sound when shaken - this does not seem normal to me but I haven't seen any info on this. Because the coax is on the video board and it was the only non-surge protected input to the TV at the time of failure, I also wonder about replacing it.
I can get a new power cable for $10 and a video board for $20 if it would fix the issue, but don't want to dump more money into this TV if it's not fixable. I can solder and have built several PCs, so advanced suggestions are welcome.
