White lines on screen

Hi all,

A friend showed my their iPhone recently, and it has white lines up and down the screen. The lines are moderately wide and fairly equadistand from each other. He has had the phone for two years, and the lines showed up just a few days ago. What is causing this problem, and how can we fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Jack,

This could have happened due to the phone being dropped as well. If no repairs were performed a drop could cause the flex cables to lose contact with the LCD contact glass causing the glitch you describe. You have to replace the screen in this case for a successful repair!

You can get this after changing the screen , it normally occurs by accidentally damaging the flex cables or the LCD. So if screen has not been changed recently I'd say the LCD is going faulty.

I don't believe any repairs pere performed. I can check, but is there any other possible cause?

If repairs have been done then it's either - damaged flex cables, or damaged LCD. If repairs have been done in the past then they might not have put the metal plate back on that holds the flex cables in place and one of them has become lose. Other than that try a new screen as the LCD maybe going faulty.

Hi Jack,

Danny is right, the only way to get these lines is either someone damaging the flex cables or the LCD has had a knock or water damage and is going faulty.

That also happened with my iPhone 4s it could be damaged LCD or flex cables. Take it to the apple store or ifixit to repair your iPhone i hope it helped you
