Why does my Panasonic LCD TV turn itself off after 2 seconds

My Panasonic Viera tv keeps switching itself off after a couple of seconds.

The model type is TX-58AX802B. I have tried unplugging it and holding the on button as suggested on other answers but with no success. Can anyone help?

@bone1 whenb you say turn off do you mean it shuts off like a no power situation? Besides the reset with the power button, what have you checked?

I had the same problem and fixed it. In my case my older TV had dust stuck in the fans. I disconnected the TV, took it down from the wall, placed it face down. Instead of unscrewing the many many screws (some of which were stripped), I took a hair dryer and blew air on the top vents with the fans below. Dust and dirt blew out. I did this for 3 minutes/fan until no more dust came out. The replaced the TV on the wall, reattached cables and voila it works and does not shut itself off

Richard

Yes thanks Richard, I just followed your instructions with the hair dryer on cold. It works again and does not turn itself off. All fixed. Fantastic

My 42 inch Panasonic shuts off after being on from an hour or the whole day. When it's off I can only turn it in at the TV, hold the button down either for a few minutes or seconds. Depends, and it'll come back on. Do you have any idea? Appreciate! Peace!

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Richard you are my hero. Took it to my workshop and blasted out with compressor and so far works just as did before. Was inch away from buying replacement . Cannot thank you enough for advice makes me wonder how many tv chucked away and how much money wasted on rip off ‘repairs’ due to this . Thanks again

@bone1 it does sounds like a power board issue. You do want to remove the back of your TV set and take a look at the board. Check for leaking and/or domed looking caps or anything unusual. Post some images of your boards with your question. Use this guide for that. It will allow us to see what you see.

Before anything else, please double check the warranty status on this set. It is really not that old and may still be covered.

If it is this, can it be fixed or do you need a new board? I have the same issue

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@noideawithtech either repaired or replaced. It will depend on what exactly has failed. If you let us know the exact make and model of your TV and what the issues are with it, we may have a better answer for you.

Panasonic Viera. Model number: TX-50CX700B

just switches off randomly with the flashing red LED every 5 seconds. There`s no pattern to it, it can do it 5 times in a few minutes or stay on for a week or more. At the weekend I took off the back panel and cleaned all the dust out of it thinking perhaps it was a build up causing a heat issue, still the same fault.

@te8yinaihyl5y7o somehow your question ended up as an answer to an old question. It got lost :-( anyhow. Did you get this fixed? You still working on it or did you properly dispose of it?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Nope. Eventually I sold it for £10 to a gamer and bought a new 55 inch Hisense
