Broken screen and won't connect to external monitor

Hello,

I have an Acer aspire 5742g and my screen is broken. I know the laptop works since i can manage log in to windows (i can hear the log in sound), but the screen is all white and grey. I have a few documents i would really need for school, so i've tried to use an external monitor (both another laptop and a tv) but it doesn't work. I've tried pressing fn+f5, i've tried the Windows logo+P, but still it won't connect to another monitor. Is there any other way to recovertransfer files from my broken laptop to another laptop??

It might be possible! The issue is if you encrypted the drive if not then you have a chance here.

You'll need to get a SATA to USB adapter cable so you can connect the removed HD from your laptop and connect it directly to a second working system. If you can do that you should be able to access the file like you would on an external HD.

Heres one possible cable: Startech 2.5" SATA to USB adapter and here how to remove your HD: Acer Aspire 5742G HDD Replacement
